This month we were able to help out three local families that are currently battling childhood cancer. One family was sent winter coats and shoes after their house and belongings were destroyed by mold. Another family was sent a hospital grade thermometer as their son is about to start a difficult phase of his treatment. A certain type of chemotherapy can cause a fever, and a good thermometer is crucial to have during treatment. When a child has a port, any fever above 100.3 warrants a trip to the ER/hospital. Being on constant fever watch can cause a great deal of stress for parents. A third family was sent a membership to the Shedd Aquarium. Although families have to be cautious with their children's low immune systems, going on family outings are so important for mental health. Thank you for allowing us to help out these three families in the Chicagoland area. They were all so thankful!
